What is Aadhaar ? What is Aadhaar Number ?

Aadhaar is a unique 12-digit Identification number issued by UIDAI to individuals for the
purpose of establishing unique identification of every single person. This card is unique for
every individual who enroll or apply to get his/her Aadhaar number. The Unique Identification
Authority of India (UIDAI) is the regulatory body on the behalf of government.

Aadhaar convokes analytical and biometric information (photograph, ten fingerprints and iris)
of each individual to establish uniqueness of individual. Aadhaar number or a unique ID number
is given to each and every member of family. Aadhaar card is not a smart card. This number is
available online and offline verification. This Aadhaar card is mainly used to eliminate the fake
identities and documents from the government records.

The main feature of this card is that it is biometric card with the number which is acceptable
anywhere in the country and across the country. The people who are below the poverty line get
more benefit with this card. Their biometric information and the number give their complete
identification.

You can use the aadhaar number for opening an bank account, for passport, for booking of e-
tickets and many other places where you can use this aadhaar number to give your identity. this
number is the simplest way to describe someone’s identity.

Aadhaar is not compulsory. It depends on the person or an individual who are interested to get
this unique Aadhaar number and get their identity. This card is valid for the whole life. A person
who wants to get his\her aadhaar number can get this aadhaar number for free of cost.
